Second Chance Matric Programme offers a second chance at success.
Did you know? The Department of Basic Education has a plan of action that helps young people who haven’t passed matric. The programme is called Second Chance Matric Support Programme.
SCMSP is a product of the DBE which aids hundreds of people to complete their National Senior Certificate [NSC]. Just recently, DBE Minister, Angie Motshekga – was at the Waterberg District in Limpopo as part of the Youth Month activities to urge young people to make use of this programme.
Minister Motshekga says the SCMSP is, “Targeted at learners and individuals who failed to meet the requirements of the NSC, the Senior Certificate (SC) or are seeking to upgrade their subjects and are enrolled as part-time, or full-time candidates that just need additional revision and examination preparation tools, the chance to obtain their matric certificates with the necessary grades to improve their lives and achieve their dreams.

“Though the programme, a province like Limpopo has been able to increase the number of learners, who have not only completed the NSC but also acquired their Bachelor’s passes.”
DBE has indicated that there are 65 basic education funded centres provincially with an increasing participation rate. Limpopo Province is working on establishing more centres to house the growing number of candidates registering for the programme.

This, definitely, is another strategy by the department to help empower young people by opening more doors to programmes such as the SCMSP. Remember, this programme is free of charge.
