Miss Plus Size Soweto opens doors to 14 beautiful women

Plus Size breaking the stigma.

Last Saturday, Miss Plus Size Soweto (MPS) hosted their first plus-size beauty pageant with 14 young women in Soweto and nearby areas to showcase their natural beauty, talents, and personalities.

Miss Plus Size Soweto aims to create a networking platform for young women through different stages of the competition. They are here to normalize plus size in the society and to stand against body shaming.

They want to celebrate all the things that aren’t socially celebrated and the media or people seem to Photoshop their pictures in order for the world not to see.

According to Mmabatho Ranake said MPS intend to create the sense of belief, confidence, and acceptance to plus size women.

Ensuring that it builds self-confidence to women who lack confidence and struggling to make peace with their body weight or shape and to show the beauty of plus size women through an exciting journey as the contestants will go through different stages in the competition.

“We are appealing to members of the communities, business people or any good Samaritan to sponsor the first Miss Plus Size Soweto.

“We urge to our potential sponsors to be part of this great journey of embracing the curvaceous beauty of plus size women and stand against stigma attached to plus size,” said Ranake.

The Miss Plus Size will host “Meet & Greet” of the contestants on July 7 at Protea South Herman’s Place. They urge people to bring along 2 Tin stuff for donations that will be donated to the charity later in the month by the MPS contestants.
