VIDEO: Fire claims a man’s life and leaves 11 people homeless in Orlando East
Families left homeless after fire consumes their homes in Orlando East.
Robert Mulaudzi from Emergency Management Services [EMS] said they received the call last night around 10 pm notifying them that about six shacks were destroyed by fire and that one person died on scene.
“The cause of the fire is still being investigated. Mulaudzi said this is the fifth fire incident in Soweto since the beginning of June. Five people have lost their lives in separate fire incidents in Soweto.
“We urged residents to look after all heating appliances not to leave them unattended while in use. That should help prevent fire incidents at home,” explained Molaudzi.
Stats recorded of people who died in different fire incidents in Soweto are as follows:
- Two people lost their lives in Rockville
- One person in White City
- One person Emndeni
- One now in Orlando, all since the beginning of June.
