Still no help for blind Khumalo

A woman in desperate need of your help.

RDP houses continue to become a big issue for residents who have applied but are still clueless about when they will be allocated. For the disabled, it is even worse because most of them depend on their families to help them when they need anything.

A Chiawelo resident, Molly Khumalo is one of the people who have since been waiting to receive her own home. Khumalo is blind and says the place she is living in is not good for her disability.

She said she lives in a family house with her sisters and grandchildren of which they are not supportive and lives in fear every day as people go in and out of the house and she fails to recognise them.

“Sometimes people walk in at night knocking at my door and that puts my life in danger. I have pleaded with the Ward 12 Councillor that I need to be in a place of safety but nothing has been done yet.”

She said the Councillor has since promised to help her get a house where she can live freely but the promises still prove fruitless as she is still in the same house living in fear every day.

She only depends on her younger sister, Maria who takes her everywhere she needs to go.

Ward 12 Councillor, Jabu Mnisi has since said he is aware of Khumalo’s situation and they are still on a mission to get help for her.

Khumalo used to live a normal life all these years until she suffered from glaucoma which caused her to be blind in 2002.

She is pleading for a quick response to get her own home where she can live happily without any fear.
