Residents, especially women, are urged to be more vigilant when crossing the open field adjacent to Immink Road in Zone Six after a number of rapes have been reported and the perpetrator has not been brought to book.
Captain Phephi Matlou Mteto warned people crossing over from Diepkloof Zone Six, between the field that divides Calvary Church and the Universal Church to be careful because there is a rapist on the loose.
Mteto said, “Women should avoid crossing that spot at night because a number of women have already reported a rape which occurred in the bushes at that spot.”
Police have launched a manhunt for the suspect who preys on women who find themselves in the area at night.
Anyone with information which may lead to the arrest of the serial rapist is asked to contact the police or to call the captain on 083 535 6698.
