Sexual assault case involving a security guard postponed to November 30

Case postponed again.

The following is an interview with a concerned parent speaking outside the Protea Magistrate Court. The man arrested in connection with the sexual assault allegations appeared at the court today.

The man accused of sexually assaulting 87 girls from a school in Orlando East made his first court appearance at the Protea North Magistrate on October 18.

There was a protest action by some parents outside the court before and during proceedings. Initially, when the news about the alleged sexual assaults broke, the total number of girls was 54 but later increased to 87.

In support of the victims was a group from the ANC Gauteng Women’s League. Spokesperson Nontsha Nciza said, “We are saddened that the case has been postponed to November 30.

“We are hurt as parents that our kids are not taken seriously, now they are afraid of going to school because they fear for their lives,” she said.
