Department of Basic Education calls for public input on the 2019 School Calendar

All persons with a particular interest in school calendars are invited to comment in writing on the proposed school calendar.

The minister of Basic Education, Angie Motshekga calls on all the people interested in the school calendar to comment in writing on the 2019 Proposed School Calendar.

The Department of Basic Education announced this on its website encouraging the public to participate.

Last year, DBE proposed a school calendar for 2018 – which, according to Lindiwe Manaka was approved following public comment.

“The purpose of the proposal is to involve the public in decision-making.

“These propositions are carried on a yearly basis and that once all comments have been reviewed the decision will be made,” she concluded.

Motshekga acting in terms of Section 3(4)(k) of the National Education Policy Act, 1996, and after consultation with the Council of Education Ministers, hereby publishes the Proposed 2019 School Calendar set out in the Schedule for comments.

All persons with a particular interest in school calendars are invited to comment in writing on the proposed school calendar.

All comments must reach the DBE no later than April 19.
