Government officials to visit family distraught by shack fire, Doornkop

After a shack fire ensued where three children's lives were lost, Government officials wish to offer their condolences.

The City of Johannesburg’s Members of the Mayoral Committee for Community Development, councillor Nonhlanhla Sifumba and MEC for Gauteng Social Development Nandi Mayathula-Khoza will visit the family of three children who burnt to death in a shack fire in Doornkop.

They will offer some assistance to the family.

The tragedy unfolded in Doornkop, Soweto, in the early hours of Wednesday, January 18.

The City of Johannesburg will offer some assistance to the family where three children, aged 11 months‚ three years and five years, were asleep together with their parents in the rented shack when it caught fire.
