Moroka SAPS warn residents

Residents are asked to play a vital role in what might be the cause of road accidents in Soweto.

Moroka Police SAPS have issued a warning regarding a vehicle that is suspected to be intentionally spilling oil on the road.

Constable John Serala, Moroka Communication Officer said, “a private car has been seen driving around the Moroka policing area spilling used motor vehicle oil on the tar roads, stop signs and robots; basically areas that they know cars need to use the breaks.”

So far, the area that has been targeted is Elias Motsoaledi and Chris Hani Road intersection in Dlamini.

Serala said that it’s suspected that this vehicle is working with tow truck companies to intentionally cause accidents.

“We would like to ask residents to assist with helping us find the vehicle in question, by paying attention to the colour, registration, the model of the vehicle and the time its spilling this oil on the road, so we can take note of that area, especially if/when there is an accident so the owner of the vehicle can be held accountable for the accident,”” said Serala.

As the weather is becoming very unpredictable and the rains are strong with storms, the roads are slippery, but the oil spillage on the road can intensify the likeliness of accidents, Moroka SAPS is pleading with residents to take note of any suspicious behaviour they may notice regarding the above warning.
