The young women empowerment brings a wave of hope

Councillor came to motivate.

The young women empowerment programme took place at Emdeni, Ward 52, Region D on October 12. The aim of the programme was to lessen the number of unemployed youths. Everyone who attended the programme was handed  a database form from the Social Development to fill up for upcoming job opportunities.

Miso Makomagutyana of Godisang came to motivate the youth, and urged them to read just a little more, she said, ” Just because you are unemployed it doesn’t mean your mind must be on vacation.”

Mokgadi Sebati of the Youth Desk explained that the event was solely made to empower young women and give them hope. Sebati said, ” Most young women in the community are discouraged and don’t have information.”

Sebati said, ” We are planning to motivate all young women to go out in the world and make their mark and do something positive with their lives.”

The programme invites different organisations to inform the youth about different opportunities available.

Organisations like Inqaba Yokulinda came to the event to revive the zeal of the youth. Even Councillor Nomsa Hlomendlini joined the hopeful young people and welcomed all those who took the stand for their future. Hlomendlini said, “If this event can be arranged again I can mobilise more and invite more people like pupils and unemployed persons.”

Mmabatho Khaile who attended the programme said, “I think this will help the youth so much because most young people in the community do not have resources.”

Young people who are interested in these type of programmes can call the PRO for the Youth Desk, Sphiwe Letsie on 082 465 5469.
