Grandma tries to find schooling for kids abandoned by their mother due to her addiction to nyaope.

Margaret Makhaphela was in Moroka today to get an affidavit to block her grand children’s South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) card which is with her daughter Portia Makhaphela who smokes nyaope.

Makhaphela’s daughter is on the run with her children’s (SASSA) card, so she has to take care of her two grandchildren who should be at school but aren’t.  Noluthando Makhapela (10) is disabled on a wheelchair, she should be doing Grade Three by now but she doesn’t know the gate of a school, according to Makhaphela.

Makhaphela said she was determined to get schools for her grandchildren because they are getting older, she said, “I need help.

Makhabela’s said her biggest challenge is that her daughter smokes nyaope, “She disappears every time and doesn’t even feed her children with their Sassa money.
