Rise in rape incidents a concern for Kliptown police

Another man is due in court for the alleged rape of a girl.

Kliptown police have expressed their concern over the rise of rape incidents in their policing area. This comes after another man was arrested for allegedly raping his 7-year-old niece on Friday.

The 40-year-old man from Kliptown is due at the Protea Magistrate Court on Tuesday for charges related to rape.

“It is alleged by the mother of the victim that she noticed her child not walking properly.

“When she asked what had happened, the child told her she had been raped by her uncle when she had gone for a visit at his place,” said constable Thuli Ngwenya, spokesperson for Kliptown police.

The incident was reported to the police and the girl was booked for medical attention. Police have appealed with parents to always look after their children and act quickly whenever they notice any odd behaviour.
