Parents urged to keep a sharp eye on their children

Parents must report missing children immediately.

Region D Missing Children Society Mark Antony advises and urged parents to keep a sharp eye on their children’s movements to avoid the risk of them being abducted.

“The research that we conducted has shown that community centres and parks are the main places where children are targeted.

“We urge parents to always make sure that they know wand keep records of where their children are going, with who and to do what there, they must always keep records of what their children were wearing when they left the house and this will make easy to search for the child once he/she went missing.”

Moroka Police Station communication officer John Serala said they will be having campaigns to help them decrease the number of child abduction.

“We have planned on morning and evening campaigns to raise awareness about child abduction this festive and we are aiming for a free child kidnap or missing child festive and we will work hard to make that happens.”

Antony said: “Parents must make sure that they don’t wait until 24 hours pass before they can report their missing children, they must report that immediately they realise or notice that their children is missing and that will give police enough time to prepare the search very early.”
