Teenager dies for his cap

Murder suspects arrested.

A teenager (19) was stabbed to death after being robbed of his cap on the corner of Wildchestnut Street and Impala Road in Protea Glen Extension 11.

It is alleged that the teenager was from a party on Sunday morning going home to Tshepisong with his friends, when four men came from behind and one of them snatched the cap of the teenager and ran away.

The teenager chased the men and one of them produced a knife and stabbed him on the chest where he fell before the attackers ran away.

On that  same morning at about 5am, the men who stabbed the teenager robbed two ladies of their cellphones and handbags with a knife next to the park in Protea Glen Extension 11.

The police officers patrolling the area saw men who were running away and gave chase.

One of them was arrested and found in possession of two cellphones and a handbag.

The women  were able to identify their cellphones and the handbag as theirs and the man was arrested and charged with armed robbery.

The arrested man was questioned and linked with the murder of the 19-year-old teenager.

Police investigations led to the arrest of the second man (20) for murder.

“It was also discovered that the arrested men are not linked to any other cases and at this stage, there is no information to confirm that these men were terrorising the community.

“Investigations are underway for the arrest of other wanted men,” said Vincent Mashiteng, communications officer at Protea Glen SAPS.
