COPESSA celebrates Child Protection Day

"Children mustn't be protected on Child Protection Week only but they must feel protected at all times."

On May 30, COPESSA celebrated Child Protection Day through art.

Children were reminded of their rights and how they should exercise them while also taking responsibility.

They were showcasing their talents through art by playing drums, dancing, singing, reciting poems and also drawing.

All the activities done by children were all related to their rights, such as drama which portrayed the abuse some children face at home.

Child Protection Week started yesterday and will last until June 7.

The aim for Child Protection Week is to protect children and make sure their rights are not infringed.

“Children mustn’t be protected on Child Protection Week only, but they must feel protected at all times,” said Ogopoleng Maramela, senior social worker at COPESSA.
