Forced Aids tests must be investigated
The Gauteng Health Department has given itself at least one week to investigate allegations of forced testing at Eldorado Park Clinic.
Patients are being forced to have HIV/Aids tests at certain clinics in Alexandra and Eldorado Park.
This was revealed by the Democratic Alliances (DA) Gauteng health Shadow Jack Bloom.
“In some cases, mothers are apparently told they need to have a HIV/Aids test before their children will be vaccinated.
“This is clearly wrong and needs to be investigated by the Gauteng Health Department as a matter of urgency,” he said.
“Medical staff should follow established protocols and ensure that there is proper consent from patients in diagnosing and treating HIV/Aids.”
