Dutch juniors visit Soweto

Dutch junior tennis players shared some skills with Soweto youngsters at Arthur Ashe Tennis Complex.

The Dutch junior tennis team players visited young Soweto aspiring players to share some tennis knowledge at the Arthur Ashe Tennis Centre in Jabavu.

The team traveled to South Africa to participate in the two week International Tennis Federation which was held in Potchefstroom in February and early March.

After sharing some skills with SA players, the Dutch players went on to donate some tennis gear to their South African counterparts.

Not only did the Dutch team visit the Arthur Ashe but they went to the Hector Pietersen Memorial, Nelson Mandela’s house at Vilakazi Street and the FNB Soccer Stadium, the Official FIFA 2010 World Cup stadium as part of their Soweto tour.

Dutch coach, Chris Vermeeren said it was important in the development of junior players that they conducted clinics like the one in Soweto and reached out to players who had less opportunities.
