Firearms, ammunition stolen from security company

Police ask residents to assist them with information that can help crack a business robbery case.

The Moroka Police are on the hunt for three males who are on the run after allegedly robbing a security company situated in Dlamini.

According to the police, the men robbed Mfanyana Security which is next to Dlamini Post Office at gunpoint on Tuesday at about 12:20pm.

Police’s captain Mpande Khoza said: “The security company was operating as normal when three unknown black males attacked it.

“According to the information that was given to us by the five victims, it’s alleged that the three men entered the security premises.

“One of them went straight to the counter, where five employees of the security company were sitting while the other two sat down on the waiting chairs.”

The one who went to the counter then produced a firearm and pointed it at the five employees.

Khoza said the other two suspects also produced firearms and joined the first one.

The men then demanded the employees to accompany them to the main safe where firearms are kept.

“One of the employees tried to resist but was assaulted with the firearm on his forehead.

“The men then forced the employees to the main safe where they ordered them to open the safe and they took 13 Norinco pistols, 26 firearm magazines, 150 live ammunition and five cells phones from the employees before locking them up at the back of the shop,” Khoza said.

The police have opened a case of business robbery and no one has been arrested so far.

Khoza said they appeal to the community of Soweto to assist them with any information that will lead to the arrest and the recovery of these suspects and the firearms, as this poses a serious threat while it is in the hands of these dangerous criminals.

Anyone with information can contact captain Ben Mlangheni of the Moroka Police Station or the station commander on 011 527 0000.
