National STI/Condom Week

10 - 16 February 2015 is STI/Condom Week which aims to reduce the spread of STI’s and curb the spread of HIV and AIDS.

Besides being the month of love, February also provides the platform to raise awareness around the importance of condoms.

Running from February 10- 16 this year, STI/Condom Week is an annual campaign aimed at reducing the spread of sexually transmitted infections (STI’s), prevent unwanted pregnancies and curb the spread of HIV and AIDS through promotion of safe sex and condom usage.

STIs remain a huge problem in South Africa even though most of the infections can be cured.

In addition, many people are reluctant to seek medical treatment because of the fear of being stigmatised.

Consistent and correct use of male and female condoms reduce the risk of STIs, unplanned pregnancies and HIV and AIDS.
