Gauteng police to rotate managers

The South African Police Services is introducing changes that they believe will aid in fighting crime in the province.

Today is the deadline date for various managers of the South African Police Service in Gauteng to respond to whether they agree to be redeployed to other areas or not.

Should there be those who disagree, they will be expected to give convincing reasons as to why they should not be rotated and thereafter management will consider those explanations.

Police spokesperson, lieutenant general Solomon Makgale said that the police in Gauteng will rotate nine of its senior managers at different levels of command across the province.

He said this forms part of management’s plan in increasing the fight against crime in Gauteng.

“The organisation has decided to refresh policing in the province by improving size at operational level where it is needed the most, with experienced senior managers.

“Their skills, personal circumstances and the interests of the police management were all considered in the process and the affected persons were met with to discuss the changes.

“All the affected individuals further were given 21 days which expires on January 29, to go and consider this offer,” he said.

Most of the managers had already accepted the redeployment Makgale said and should there be those who decline, they would have to give convincing reasons why they should not be swapped.

Thereafter management will consider those explanations.

Makgale said the management of the police service is positive that these proposed changes will help improve the province’s crime fighting efforts and service delivery.
