New sector numbers for Moroka policing area

Residents are urged to start using the new sector numbers for their respective areas.

As of December 1, the Moroka Police Station has changed from having seven sectors to only four.

For this reason, residents are urged to start using the new sector numbers with immediate effect.

Communications officer at the Moroka Police Station, Constable John Serala says that these changes have been made due to demarcation changes and lack of resources.

The new sector one consists of Protea South/Police View, Protea Court Area/Cluster Complex, Chiawelo One, Dlamini One, Chiawelo Three and Klipriviersoog and all these areas can contact sector number 071 675 6541 and 071 675 6542.

Sector two includes Mapetla Ext, Merafe Hostel, Mapetla East, Phiri, Senaoane and Dlamini Two and residents can call 071 675 6543 and 071 675 6544.

The third sector comprises of Molapo, Rockville/Moroka North, Jabavu White City and Central Western Jabavu and people from those areas can call 071 675 6549 and 071 675 6550.

Sector four incorporates Mofolo North, Mofolo Central, Mofolo South, Nancefield Hostel, Klipspruit Ext, Ferd Clark and Dlamini Foxlake/Lakeview and locals there can call 071 675 6551 and 071 675 6552.

The Moroka relief commander can be reached on 071 675 6545 while the operational commander can be found on 071 675 6546.

Serala says residents can contact the relief commander and the operational commander should they be unable to reach their sector cars as the operational commander is in charge of controlling the sector cars that are on the road while the relief commander controls the group that is in charge and on duty.

“We urge residents to use these numbers, as these are for cars that are patrolling in their areas and they might be closer to them at the time of a crime.

“These cars will be able to get to the scene quicker than if residents first call the 10111 number or the police station,” Serala says.
