Bridge construction to boost local economy

Bridge said to connect communities completes first phase of construction.

The Naledi/Protea bridge is designed to be accessed both by cars and by foot, making it safe and user friendly.

The construction team is currently running three separate activities which are said to last for the next month and a half.

The first section of the project deals with the installation of earth panels, which are used to provide support for the ramp structure which will later become an ascending road.

Site manager, David Andre, says on the opposite side of the earth panels being installed are the erection of  10 columns which would stand 20 metres above the ground.

The current phase will be followed by the burial of electricity cables that run across the railway line and a set of six additional columns will be added afterwards.
