Hijackers staging car accidents
Motorists urged to be extra cautious as there have been reports of staged car accident.
Head of communications for Orlando Police Station Nomvula Mbense says they have been reports of motorists who were hijacked during staged minor car accidents.
She said that the hijackers bump motorist’s cars from behind causing the unaware motorist to stop their vehicle, giving the hijackers an opportunity to drive off with the vehicle.
“I urge residents to rather drive to their nearest police station when they have been hit. It is better to be safe than sorry, as one will never know if it is an honest accident or a staged one,” she said.
In the meantime she says 16 people were arrested over the weekend
One for illegal gambling, four for dealing in illegal liquor trading, seven for possession of dagga and four for being in possession of drugs.
