Moroka patrollers speak up

Patrollers in need of urgent help.

Teams of patroller executive members from various sectors within the Moroka policing area gathered yesterday to discuss some of the challenges they face in their respective areas.

This gathering took place at the Moroka Police Station with the Community Police Forum present.

Some of the most prevalent issues raised included the shortage of uniforms for all seven sectors and the challenge of people posing as patrollers to rob residents.

The chairpersons said one reason why people pose as their members is because there is no way to identify the official patrollers since they have no proper identofication.

Chairperson of the Community Police Forum in Moroka, Elijah Tsokodibane is pleading with residents and the private sector to invest in these patrollers as they are volunteering their services.

He said that these are individuals that are giving up their time to help fight crime in their communities, so they need to be assisted.
