We need our residents to help us – Serala

Serala urges residents to support the police.

Moroka Police Station Media Liaison Officer John Serala said this is the right time for residents who have a wish to join the South African Police Services (SAPS) and fight crime to do so.

Serala said there are many posts or projects that residents can apply for at the station and be part of the crime fighting community.

“We said it before and we still going to emphasise it again, alone as SAPS we cannot do it.

“There is no way we can fight crime and win the battle alone, we do need and depend on residents to come forward and assist us in this fight, so we do encourages and plead with residents to visit the station and finds out more on crime fighting campaign that they can join.”

Serala said: “Residents can join the Community Patrolling Forum (CPF), Youth Desk, anonymous tippers, volunteers at crime fighting campaigns or be our ears and eyes about the crimes happening in their areas.

“When volunteering at the stations, there are many opportunities that do comes their way and people should not think that they will just volunteer for nothing without any rewards.

“There are many job opportunities and others if people are dedicated and hardworking and focus on making sure that they do their best in every projects that they get involved in.”
