Schools around the country are about to sit for the final 2013 examinations and pupils are being encouraged to attend extra classes which will help them with their exam preparations.

Pupils are also urged to seek assistance from family members and other graduates.

African National Congress Youth League in Ward 15 treasure Sibusiso Shongwe said: “There are lots of graduates and unemployed people in the society who are always willing to help develop a child’s education.

“So we therefore urge pupils to approach these people and ask for help with revision, assignments and homework so that they will be well prepared and ready to write their final examinations,” he said.

Shongwe said: “Pupils must also attend libraries and join programmes such as Buddy Readers, reading circles and group studies which are free of charge.

“This will help them increases their chances of passing their grades with flying colours and in that way they will attract potential sponsors or funders,” he said.

Nthabiseng Mokitimi (16) a student at Mapetla High School said: “I’ve already joined Buddy Readers at Chiawelo Community Centre Library and that has been helpful to me.

“It is always great to read in groups than when you are alone, because in groups we do correct and help each other until we get the correct answer, so if there are any young people out there who haven’t joined any reading group I would encourage them to do so,” she said.

Shongwe said: “This is also a time for pupils to start applying for bursaries and funding is they know that they won’t have any means of helping them go to school next year,” he said.
