Road to Miss Teen Meadowlands begins

The teen beauty pageant, in its fifth year running will see a total of 32 hopefuls proceed to the finals at the Soweto Theatre on October 7.

Local Non-profit Company, Home of Deprived and Encouragement is counting down until it brings another installment of the Miss Teen Meadowlands pageant.

The teen beauty pageant, in its fifth year running will see a total of 32 hopefuls proceed to the finals at the Soweto Theatre on October 7 in what promises to be an exciting event.

“Miss Teen Meadowlands is about celebrating the beauty of all young women regardless of their physicality and abilities,” said Khotso Nong and Thabang Modisane, event founder and coordinator.

“We are thrilled to have the sponsors for this year’s event who will once again be putting forward excellent efforts for all the girls competing for the crown.”

Armed with a mission to impact girl development and inspire young women to become Tomorrow’s global leaders, the Miss Teen Meadowlands team is passionate and driven to make a difference in the community while encouraging a positive self-image, personal development and community awareness for young girls.

This year, according to organisers, will have ten winners, five from pre-teens and five for teens who will each receive a prize from a reputable local organisation of their choice.

All contestants are also allocated a mentor to assist them as they embark on their journey to the big night.

“This is the same platform where I started. To be able to come back as a coach to this cohort has been an amazing journey because the pageant is not just about beauty and glamour, but rather about forging a sisterhood.

It is about empowering young women to make a positive impact in their communities.

This pageant provides an amazing platform for young girls to develop confidence, leadership skills, and a sense of social responsibility,” added Modelling Coach, Lisa Mabote.

The duo pleaded for additional sponsors and monetary donors to come on board and help the young girls and the pageant to become Soweto’s success story.

“We decided to bring back the beauty pageant because we are passionate about helping young and well driven women make a difference in their communities.

“We as a team would like to see the pageant grow beyond Meadowlands and broaden the vision with the support of local businesses,” they concluded.
