Local NGO brings joy to children

They dedicate their time in assisting various orphanages and also do fundraising for food, infrastructure, education and other essentials.

Mandela Month festivities ended on a high note at the Villa of Hope Children’s Home in Nancefield, Eldorado Park this past weekend.

This as Visions of Joy visited the centre to bring smiles to the children and staff by upgrading the sports facilities. Volunteers from Visions of Joy got their hands dirty and worked on the soccer field painting goal posts, reviving the markings and making sure that the whole field is in a good condition for the children to use.

They then moved to the netball court and gave it a much needed facelift as well. Soccer balls and a soccer kit were also donated to the Villa of Hope Children’s Home team as well as tennis nets and balls.

The upgrade to the sporting facilities and donation will go a long way in making the home a more liveable place for the beneficiaries.

Project manager at Visions of Joy, Rabiya Mohammed said they did all the work they did on the day because they believe sports is important for the children.

“We at Visions of Joy want to create a platform for people to assist or join us in giving back to the community,” Mohammed explained. “We renamed the soccer field to Field of Joy because it is closer to our organisation’s name.”

Visions of Joy is an NGO founded in 2006 by a group of professionals who have a strong interest in charity work and giving back to local communities.

They dedicate their time in assisting various orphanages and also do fundraising for food, infrastructure, education and other essentials.

The Mandela Day event at the Villa of Hope Children’s Home was sponsored Oza Holdings, a long-time supporter of Visions of Joy and their community work.
