Mofolo South clinic receives new laptops from MMC Makhafola

The new laptops will help nurses quickly and efficiently capture patient health files.

MMC for Health and Social Development in the City of Johannesburg, Ennie Makhafola has handed over seven new laptops to the nurses at Mofolo South Clinic.

In keeping up with the digital revolution, the City’s Health Department has chosen to move from paper based filing system to what is called e-health with an aim to improve services rendered to residents.

“Today we are handing over seven laptops to the professional nurses of Mofolo South Clinic. The aim of these laptops is to help with the e-health process we are running in our 79 clinics in the City of Joburg,” said MMCMakhafola.

It is hoped that the introduction of the e-health process will speed up services at clinics by reducing the amount of time it takes for nurses to retrieve patient files. This will in turn reduce the amount of time residents spend in queues at the clinic.

“We are going digital in our health care facilities. These laptops will be used to capture patient report files,” Makhafola continued.

Mofolo South clinic is one of the first clinics to receive these laptops in Soweto.

“I would like to thank the Department for making a contribution to our clinic. In the past our clinic never had proper infrastructure. This will assist in making it a better place for our people,” said ward Cllr Papi Chitsanga.
