Soweto Tourism and Business Association engage with local entrepreneurs

The conference which saw entrepreneurs from Soweto and the surrounding areas was aimed at proving attendees a platform to showcase their potential as a prime investment destination.

The Soweto Tourism and Business Association in partnership with the Nasrec GL Events and Strategic Partners hosted their anticipated Soweto Investment Conference which is aimed at bringing entrepreneurs and investors together at Nasrec Expo Centre from June 23 to 24.

The conference which saw entrepreneurs from Soweto and surrounding areas was aimed at proving attendees a platform to showcase their potential as a prime investment destination, fostering socioeconomic growth and development.

One of the attendees, Mongezi Ndlovu of Mama Kea Designs said that he is grateful for the opportunity to be part of the conference.

It also highlighted the diverse sectors poised for investment, including manufacturing, tourism, renewable energy, infrastructure, and more.

It also had motivation from renowned speakers and experts sharing insights and their success stories to provide valuable knowledge to those in business.

The chairman of the Soweto Tourism and Business Development Association, Thato Mothopeng said they are proud to announce that the attendees took part in engaging panel discussions, presentations and interactive workshops to examine key topics such as sustainable development, innovation, and inclusive growth.

Entrepreneurs were also given an opportunity to showcase their products and services in free stalls.

“The Soweto Investment Conference 2023 was a unique platform used to connect investors with the untapped potential of our dynamic township. Soweto has a rich history and an entrepreneurial spirit that drives our local businesses from the likes of Dr Richard Maponya, Sakhumzi and more.

“Through this conference, we wanted to stimulate investment, create employment opportunities, and contribute to the sustainable development of our community,” Mothopeng said.

He added that the conference provided a valuable networking environment, facilitating partnerships and collaborations between local businesses, private business, investors, and government entities.

Attendees had the chance to engage with influential figures, explore potential joint ventures, and discover investment prospects across various sectors.

Attendees were given a platform to raise their concerns and engage with the panelists.

“Soweto is a rising star in the investment landscape with immense potential for growth and development.

“We aim to create an enabling environment that attracts domestic and foreign investment, ultimately leading to increased employment, improved infrastructure and a better quality of life for our residents,” added Mothopeng.

One of the attendees, Mongezi Ndlovu of Mama Kea Designs said he was grateful for the opportunity to be part of the conference.

“Our business started in 2016 and we are based at Vilakazi Street.

“Through the establishment of the business we have encountered various challenges but conferences like this really help us to socialise with other business people and take advice from them,” Ndlovu said.
