“This is about educating kids to learn to play basketball the right way, with passing, shooting, dribbling, ball handling and defensive skills.”

According to Sicelo Dubazana, CEO of the Institute for Skills Empowerment in Johannesburg, the biggest issue for Soweto is lack of development and investment in the youth as well facilities and infrastructure.

Traore concluded by explaining sports as a best way to teach young people important life skills.

“When you are in the basketball court you have to be respectful to your team mates, you need to be able to take instructions from your coach and you also need to be able to understand that you will not always win or lose.”
