Thousands filled the University of Johannesburg Soweto Campus to bid farewell to radio legend Eddie Zondi.
The Imbizo Hall was filled to capacity leaving some fans outside to witness the proceedings.
“We will remain lovers of love and music and in him God gave us someone who made us appreciate music and love,” said Water and Sanitation Minister Nomvula Mokonyane.
Robert Marawa, made mourners sing along to some of the songs that Zondi loved.
He paid tribute to his friend by playing songs that he loved.
“To the family, we are with you in grief, God has given and God has taken,” said Minister of Sports, Fikile Mbalula.
Zondi was laid to rest at the Westpark Cemetery and is survived by his wife and three daughters.
