Sasko promotes positive play at Ikaneng Primary School

According Sasko Siyasizana Campaign marketing manager, Nomawethu Gadlela, the goal of the initiative is to build, restore and upgrade 1 000 playgrounds throughout Johannesburg in 2023 with the focus being on Early Childhood Development centres and foundation phase learners.

Sasko Siyasizana Campaign hosted a play day at Ikaneng Primary School Campus A on March 17.

The day which saw enthusiastic learners gathered in the assembly point and entertained by music and other activities was aimed at opening the new school playground which was renovated by the Sasko Siyasizana Campaign.

Diepkloof-born radio perdonality, Lerato Kganyago, The Wife and Uzalo actor, Wiseman Mncube, professional football player, Linda Mntambo and Mind Matters educational psychologist, Jiten Singh.

She added that they are also using this initiative to advocate against bullying in schools through promoting positive play time.

Ikaneng Primary School campus A enjoyed their day with Sasko’s team as they opened their renovated play grounds.

“People who care make things better. We care about our communities and our children are the centre of everything we do.

“This is why we ask ourselves what could be the challenges for them not to be the best they can be and that is when we realised the challenge of bullying in schools,” Gadlela said.

She added that research showed them that if you want to bud a child’s personality, it is important not to miss the first ten years of their lives. Therefore it is critical for them to build the right foundation and have happier children in the country.

“We want to motivate children so that they love coming to the schools, this is why you see Sasko investing in playgrounds for South African schools and ECD’s.

“Phase two of the project will have learners get more into recycling with an effort to take care of the environment.”

Diepklof-born radio personality, Lerato Kganyago, professional football player, Linda Mntambo as well as The Wife and Uzalo actor, Wiseman Mncube were also part of the day and spoke on the importance of bullying awareness in schools.

Also speaking on issues of bullying, Mind Matters educational psychologist, Jiten Singh said, “Bullying has had a major impact in South Africa.

Sasko Siyasizana Campaign team are proud to be part the initiative and advocate against bullying in schools.

“Most learners in the country experience bullying in some point of their lives. According to the recent research on bullying, 3.2 million children are impacted by bullying every year and 67 percent of them do not report it,” Sign said.

He added that some of the cases of bullying he has previously worked with resulted in learners not feeling confident about themselves.
