Local foundation donates to the needy

Nhlanhla Tshabalala (NT) Foundation donated school essentials to the less privileged children in Kliptown informal settlements on March 05.

With a lot of socio-economic issues that communities are facing. NT foundation saw it significant to be an impactful response in preserving the future of a black child from Soweto through donating school necessities.
Nhlanhla Tshabalala, founder of NT Foundation explained that, “We are having our annual back to school campaign for 2023 because we would like to give hope and dignity to children, the ones that go to school without having a proper dignified school uniform.”
“This is also to give a financial relief for the parents that cannot afford to buy their children proper school uniform,” Tshabalala added.

According to stats providing free school uniforms has decreased absenteeism to 13% in the initial years of the programme. This means that donating school uniforms cut absenteeism by 37% for the less privileged children and the effects were even bigger.
“Some of the key factors that drive a child to resent school include not having proper dignified school essentials. The other one is the lack of parental involvement in their children’s school work as well as the accessibility of substances on our societies,” said Tshabalala.
“To the learners, your situation today does not determine your future. All you need to do is give your best, be present, respect yourself and your teachers.

“Our job is to bring you closer to your dreams but it all lies to your hard work,” Tshabalala concluded.
