Dobsonville Gardens woman arrested for killing two-year-old son

The mother later handed herself over to the police and she was immediately arrested for the alleged murder.

A woman believed to be allegedly responsible for killing her two year old son will remain behind bars for the atrocious murder that occurred on the weekend of February 4.

Police in Doornkop attended a crime scene at Dobsonville Gardens where it was reported that two year-old-boy was allegedly strangled by his mother.

It is alleged by the grandmother of the two-year-old child that the little one was sitting with his mother inside the car on Saturday night and when she went to check on them she only found the little boy’s lifeless body inside the car and the mother was nowhere to be found.

Police spokesperson, Constable Vusi Thokwan said, “The grandmother called the police for assistance and all role players were informed and paramedics arrived at the scene and certified the child dead.”

Thokwan said the mother later handed herself over to the police and she was immediately arrested for the alleged murder.

“She has already appeared in the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday facing a charge of murder and she was remanded in custody,” said Thokwan.

“Doornkop Station Commander, Colonel Tshabalala advises the community to exhaust all channels of assistance offered at the station which includes counselling before taking drastic painful actions like this.”

“The community is also reminded to report crime on our crime stop line 086 001 0111 or send an SMS to our crime line on 32211,” said Thokwan.
