Walter Sisulu Square to host Redbull Beat Battle on May 31.

The crew that prides itself on extraordinary and theatrical performances aimed at creating social and cultural awareness, Perfect Storm, is set to represent Soweto at the Redbull Beat Battle at the Walter Sisulu Square on May 31.

According to Teboho Chauke, the group leader, it is a privileged to feature at such a huge event and they will do their best to make sure that they don’t disappoint.

“We aim to draw our experience from other events like 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, our isiPantsula dance moves are sure to entertain the crowd,” he said.

He said they spent three years going to different auditions and that has taught them to persevere and understand the opportunity they have been given.

Thabo Matsebe, from Supreme I, whose crew will also represent at the event says they feel honoured because this is the third time they auditioned for the battle.

“We feel honoured to be part of this experience,” he said.

Drawing inspiration from their environment, their peers and their spirituality, it is the short time they spent together that has contributed to their bond.

Matsebe said one of their highlights was performing infront of a lot of people the Back to the City festival this year.
