“Without their involvement we cannot do anything,” said Mothusi adding that the school furtherly ensures that the top 10 achieving learners from Grade 8 until Grade 11 attend dedicated camps to mould them.

Talking about some of the challenges the school encountered, Mothusi noted that despite the challenges presented by the on-going electricity crisis in the country which was a thorn for its learners, they attributed the school’s success to the 68 educators at the institution who made sure the schooling year was smooth.

“The issue of load shedding was a major hindrance but we quickly resolved to purchase generators to mitigate the issue and made sure that the crisis does not affect our learners and we are glad that was a great investment towards making sure that the standard and quality of results do not get compromised. We hope that we will be able to find permanent solutions to addressing such challenges,” he said.

The school which runs its own extra class programme said this arrangement made it easier to categorise and monitor the learners according to their academic capabilities.

“This has allowed us to identify learners who may need extra support from top achieving learners but we always mix them during Saturdays and holidays, we start at 7am to 3pm,” he said.

“This continues during school weeks where we start at 7am for morning studies and afternoon class from 3pm to 5 pm so the teachers go beyond their working time, voluntarily so it is the passion and the calling for teaching that they go beyond the call of duty.”
