The organisation was founded in the year 2020 during the pandemic.

They came up with this initiative because they saw that in this industry of entertainment modelling was no longer perceived as significant like music and acting.

Sibusiso Masuku, founder and CEO of the RSA Model awards said, “We saw that in this industry there are people who are doing great but are not recognised.

“Their hard work during and after their reign is being overlooked and we want to acknowledge the mind set of being game changers for our societies.

“These include pageant queens, photographers, high fashion models as well as founders and organisers.”

It is an organisation that ensures that it celebrates models and people within the modelling industry in order to equip them.

There are many stereotypes around beauty pageants in societies and almost everyone has their own perspective on how models should look like and how they should present themselves in communities they serve.

“If people still don’t believe in modelling, it’s okay because we are still here and we believe in the strength that it gives us. That’s what we love, that’s where we find ourselves in and we just have to keep on keeping on,” said Gugulethu Bianca Zwane, RSA model awards ambassador for 2021.

“We wish to grow to and become more exposed and also receive sponsorships and support from our society,” Masuku concluded.
