De Original Careless, who first gained popularity as a comedian for his skits using baby powder that went viral on social media, will drop an E.P titled Maftown 2 Jozi to cement his move in music and reintroduce himself.

The E.P will feature four songs influenced by sounds of Kwaito, Amapiano and a bit of Motswako.

The growing comedian who now resides in Naledi, said the move was long overdue, which he hoped would be a comeback for his first love of music.

“What people don’t know is that I actually started with music. Way before comedy found me.

“I came to the big city because of music and not necessarily comedy. Most of my supporters still get shocked that I am a musician, so I’m excited to make a comeback and this will show them that I am not taking chances I know what I am doing,” said Semunza.

The 36 year-old recently shot the music video for Tshesa Mpama ka Baby Powder, which is also featured in the E.P. The song is a dedication or pays homage to late kwaito star and hitmaker Senyaka Kekana who was popular for his Chesa Mpama hit song in the early 2000s.

“The song is a shout out to Senyaka because most of us were really inspired by legends to him.

“You know growing up in Mafikeng, for us that is where it started, we grew up to those sounds so the song is a tribute to honour and keep his name alive, after his passing particularly for the young ones who do not know of him.

“After, the release of his song in 2021 where he collaborated with Jovi Slash in what he shared “was to test the waters”.

He said with the new project, he did not want to feature anyone but wanted the album to be his plain canvas.

“From the single, we dropped the reception has been amazing and i hope that my supporters will be receptive to the music,” he said “It is going to be a mix of music and comedy at the same time which is inspired by what happens around.

“Whatever they usually see from me on social media, is what they will get but in the form of music.

“That is why one of the tracks is called baby powder because that is something that I incorporate into my comedy,” he explains.

The artist has had his share of controversy when social media users accused him of trying to mimic Cassper Nyovest’s music to boost his own music career. He also found himself in hot waters when media personality Somizi laid a case against him with the Human Rights Commission.

“I have taken great lessons from both incidents. I don’t aspire to be anything but myself and that is what have been doing the last three years, sharing myself in my comedy and now I look forward to curving the same path for my music.”

The E.P will be available on all music streaming platforms and can keep up with the rising star on all social platforms.
