According to information provided by parents, the boys were alleged playing soccer in Zone 2 sports grounds with another team of boys from the area who are between the ages of 14 to 16 and were later lured to house in the area where the horrific incident took place.

One of the parents of the victim, Maria Nkosi **Not her real name** alleged that her son was sexually assaulted by a feather duster and had to be taken to a doctor to be examined as a result.

“He told me after they got to the place where the incident happened, the suspects physically assaulted them and gave them a choice of either drinking a laxative or having sex with each other.

“They then put a condom on a further dusted and inserted it on him,” Nkosi said.

She further stated the incident has taken a toll on the confidence of her son who now spends most of his time locked up in the house and avoids playing outside.

“I believe that he will need counselling in future because this has badly affected him and it scares me that his alleged attackers can still find him in the school premises.”

The parents alleged that they were offered money not to open a case against the alleged suspects.

Zone 2 resident and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) activist, Fikile Mabaso said the community is still shocked by this incident and condemns any form of violence against women and children.

According to Mabaso, they will not stop until justice is served and the alleged perpetrators face the law.

“It is sad that we still have a long way to go as communities to win the fight against GBV, It is shocking that children as young as 14 to 16 are already exposed to such acts and already see it right to violate others,” Mabaso said.

She added the incident has scared parents and children in the area and alleged that it was not the first time it happened.

“Children in the area are devastated and our streets are empty because parents are scared to let their children play outside and be exposed to such incidents.

“We will not stop until the fight against GBV is won and we keep our children safe. If we have to go to war in order to reach that goal, we gladly will.”

Police spokesperson, Captain Phephi Matlou confirmed that the case is being investigated by the SAPS’ Family Violence, Child Protection & Sexual Offences Unit.
