Police hunt suspects behind Nomzamo shooting

The incident marks two months since a group of armed men, said to be travelling in a white mini bus vehicle reportedly entered a local tavern and started shooting randomly at patrons.

Police are on the hunt for suspects believed to be the masterminds behind the gruesome shooting at Nomzamo Park informal settlement in Orlando East.

This as the SAPS, earlier in the week, released pictures and names of 5 men linked to the shooting at Mdlalose’s Tavern in July.

The incident marks two months since a group of armed men, said to be travelling in a white mini bus vehicle reportedly entered a local tavern and started shooting randomly at patrons, claiming the lives of 15 people who died on the scene and one who later died in hospital.

The office of the provincial commissioner which has called on the public to assist them in the search said a warrant of arrest had been issued for the five men on 16 cases of murder and seven of attempted murder.

The breakthrough in the tavern shooting investigation comes a week after Gauteng Premier, David Makhuru in a press briefing alluded that the suspects were “out of the country” and furthermore stated that officials were working with relevant authorities including the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) to extradite the suspects back into the country to face prosecution.
