The event was organised by members of the SAPS employee health and wellness (EHW).

The goal was to inspire women in blue to stand up for themselves despite all circumstances and to remind themselves that, under their watch, no one will perish as a result of GBV.

The ladies also wanted to honour women in leadership positions, such as their district commissioner Major General Anna Sithole and female brigadiers serving as station commanders in the Ekurhuleni District.

“They also wanted to commemorate those who died as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, the women who were killed as a result of GBV and the late Sergeant Nonjabulo Mogale, who was a member of the South African military.

“The event was graced by the presence of the Ekurhuleni district women’s network champion, Brigadier Nkhensani Lemba of Germiston SAPS, Sihle Sibisi – the founder of Kwanele Foundation dealing with GBV groups and the provincial head office head of EHW, Colonel Govender.

Brigadier Nkhensani Lemba fortified women to invest in themselves, enlighten their capacity, study and be prepared when going to interviews because they need women in leadership.
