Eldos’ dancer says the skill is in her blood

We get to know a little bit more about dancer Chani Majaivan from Eldorado Park after she took third place in dance competition last month.

Chandreè Solomons, also known as Chani Majaivan from Eldorado Park took third place in the Dance for Your Dreams competition which took place on Youth Day.

She is a part-time salesperson who takes dance as her hobby. She also enters dance competitions as well as teaches people how to dance.

When she isn’t working or dancing, she is also a soccer player. The 19-year-old explained that she can do any dance style that she puts her mind to.

It is only break dancing that she would still like to learn. During the Dance for Your Dreams competition, she mainly danced Hip Hop and Amapiano.

“It was a really amazing experience, I got to meet so many other dancers and I got to see so many different dance styles. I was just myself and I was there to have a good time,” said Chani Majaivan.

She said her mother told her that she has been dancing since she was in her stomach. “Dancing is in my blood; my father’s side of the family are all dancers. So, it just comes naturally to me,” she added.

Solomons explained that her mother inspires her to be a God-fearing woman and a woman who loves herself and her family.

Even though she may be burning up the dance floors at many competitions, Solomons does not see dance as a career but instead would like to start her own business in another field.

She did, however explain that she will continue dancing and teaching people how to dance in the community. Her first ever dance competition was when she was in Grade 8 and since then every dance competition has been memorable for her.

“I am a very spiritual person; I know what I am capable of so I just go to competitions with God. I don’t worry about anything. My message to everyone would be to put God first, let Him take control of your life,” concluded Solomons.
