Sampson and Warney represent Eldos in soccer

Two of Klipspruit West and Eldorado Park female soccer players made the community proud by showing their skills at the Stellenbosch University Sports Hub during the Volkswagen (VW) Junior Masters Winners Tour.

Soccer players, Abigail Sampson and Jayden Warney from Dynasty Ladies FC attended the Volkswagen (VW) Junior Masters Winners Tour in Stellenbosch, Western Cape.

According to Coach Shafiek Snayers, the girls were selected from their individual teams to form the Rand Central Local Football Association (RCLFA) VW team.

They then played the Volkswagen Junior Masters Tournament and become the champions of the tournament. The team was supposed to go to Germany but due to Covid-19 restrictions, they were unable to go.

The girls left for an all-expenses trip to Stellenbosch from July 1 to July 5. The VW team was hosted by Stellenbosch University Sports Hub. As part of the trip, the ladies had training sessions as well as friendly matches with some excursions earmarked for the players.

“I have been playing soccer since the age of seven. It is my passion and I am good at it. Coach Ficky is pushing me really hard to always do my best.

“He has been my coach since I started kicking a ball and is always encouraging me.

“I want to succeed with soccer and make my mother, community and coaches proud of me. I want to represent my country one day as well,” said Sampson.

Ficky All Stars Ladies FC from Klipspruit West and Dynasty Ladies from Roodepoort merged back in 2019 and now go under the name Dynasty Ladies FC.

“The team is doing exceptionally well and I want to see these girls succeed in life. Abigail represented the Gauteng regional team last year and had trials with the U17 national ladies team this year.

The girls have a bright future ahead of them if they just stay focused and concentrate on soccer and school.

“We have a big team now, a lot of girls are joining our team, we have approximately 40 junior ladies playing for us,” said Gerhard Loggenberg, the owner of Dynasty ladies FC.

Dynasty ladies FC is currently playing in the South African Football Association’s Ladies Regional league and RCLFA.

”Our expectations are for our girls to be selected for a varsity or professional team,” concluded coach Snayers.
