Like many NPO’s in the community, Izanokhanyo Community-Based Project has been struggling with funding especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.

These struggles resulted in the NPO closing their doors due to the lack of funding.

The organisation, however, recently reopened in hopes of gaining sponsors that will assist them in serving the community.

Founded by Helen Masumpa, the organisation has been supporting about 150 vulnerable children in the community, providing them with services such as nutritional programs, psycho social support, assist in obtaining grants and identity documents, day care and after care, sport and cultural activities, home visits and support in registering for and attending school.

“Our organisation relies on donations to ensure we remain operational and that no child goes to bed hungry. This is especially because many of the homes in the community we serve are child-headed”, said Masumpa.

The NPO started an initiative called ‘BackaBuddy’ and is looking to the community as well as businesses to support the funding initiative.

“Your donations to the BackaBuddy funding initiative will help in providing food, clothes, blankets, school uniform and stationery to struggling children and families.

“These donations will also be a great help in improving their quality of life and well-being,” concluded Masumpa.

Should you wish to make any form of donation to Izanokhanyo Community-Based Project, you can schedule an appointment by calling 073 425 5069 or you can donate items by drop-offs at the centre at the following address: 8319 Boundry Rd, Soweto, 1812.
