Manhunt launched following fatal shooting

Kliptown police have launched a manhunt following a fatal shooting of a 54-year-old man from Pimville Zone 4.

According to police reports, the incident happened on May 12 at one of the houses in Zone 4.

“Kliptown SAPS responded to a call from residents about a shooting incident that had happened in the area at approximately 12:00 pm. Upon arrival, police found a body of a 54 year old male with multiple gunshot wounds on his upper body,” explained Kliptown police spokesperson, Captain Hitler Ngwenya.

An eyewitness who was identified as the girlfriend of the victim told the police that they were approached by three armed males who spoke in isiZulu and said ‘this is the one we are looking for before opening fire on the victim and shooting him multiple times.

Paramedics were called and declared the victim dead on arrival. No arrests have been made and the motive for the killing is not known but the police are still investigating.

“We request anyone with information to please contact their nearest police station at their earliest convenience and we further request the members of the public not to try and apprehend the suspects as they are armed and deemed dangerous,” said Captain Ngwenya.
