And also a high rate of depression which is caused by many challenges that individuals find themselves going through and having no one to talk to.

This dialogue is a platform created to help those who are in need and those who do not necessarily understand what GBV is and how it can actually affect ones being.

The event was graced with the presence of Tebogo Majokana from Magita Let’s Talk, Siyabonga Kheswa from Sisonke Educational Project, Simanga Thwala a community based social worker and Mmusa Tsuebeane from Diski Nine9.

“The event is aimed at addressing our society’s ills by us making sure the community is more informed, where to go to when they are facing similar issues and how to deal with those issues. It is also for sharing our previous experience and how we were able to overcome GBV, depression, anxiety and suicidal thoughts,” said Kheswa.

During the dialogue, Majokana touched on issues of understanding GBV and its role on Gender norms while Kheswa spoke about decision making, understand your purpose, forgiving others and how to love yourself before learning to love others.

Thwala spoke about the channels that are available to help communities facing GBV and other social ills and why it is important to report GBV.

Tsuebeane spoke about types of GBV and symptoms of abusive relationship. “The vision is to build peaceful communities which we can all be proud of as well as shaping the character of both youth and adults to good citizens with dignity,” concluded Kheswa.
