Community leader and member of Operation Dudula, Nhlanhla Lux has called for the removal of Chicken Farm shacks which have become a den for dangerous criminals who use assault rifles. Lux was addressing mourners during the funeral service of Kgomotso Diale at the Pimville Community Hall this past weekend.

Diale is not the first person to be killed at Chicken Farm and last month, stolen cables were also found in the area. “We are not going to allow this to take over our hearts and minds, but we are going to deal with criminals,” said Lux, adding that South Africans must not wage a war against Basotho.

He said, “If our government does not have enough b**ls to deal with the criminals, the people can go and remove those shacks themselves. But because we are law abiding citizens and we still have faith in our government, we are saying, the ticking time bomb has started. If it was up to me, I don’t even was the person who killed Kgomotso but I want the shacks removed because that would mean tomorrow no South African will be killed by a rifle that comes out of that place.”

Residents of Pimville have also been complaining about Chicken Farm harbouring cable thieves who have been tormenting them for some time now.

Almost every week, there are power cuts in Pimville due to cable theft and residents have availed themselves to work with law enforcement authorities to curb the problem.

While emotions remain high amongst residents of Pimville because of cable theft and the killing of Diale, Lux called for calm and peace.

“Thabang spoke about peace and I agree with him. I agree with peace but I’m not going to make peace with criminals,” said Lux, adding that if the leaders of this country fail to lead, the people will lead themselves.
