The organisers of the Maritzburg Show have slashed ticket prices to make the event more affordable for families and visitors.

As of Saturday morning, October 12, tickets are now half-price at R75. Children under 12 and pensioners R50. Children under six are free.

James Martin, General Manager for Projects at the Umgungundlovu Economic Development Agency (Umeda), which is hosting the show, said that the event is for the community.

“We’ve been listening to the people of Pietermaritzburg and our exhibitors, who are the lifeblood of this event. We’ve reminded ourselves that this show is for all of you, not for us…we believe that uniting our society is far more important than focusing solely on covering our costs.”

Martin added that the price reduction reflects their commitment to supporting the local economy, attracting tourists, and creating lasting memories for future generations.

This is especially aimed at the youth, who have some of the fondest memories of the show. We want to remind people that we have plenty to offer, from fashion shows featuring local designers to performances by local musicians and art exhibitions showcasing local talent. We’re freeing up funds for everyone to enjoy it.

“Let’s make the most of the last week and a half. The band is playing, the main arena is beautifully lit with laser lights, and the atmosphere is electric,” said Martin.
