The market was the start of a regular weekly flea market which is aimed at contributing to the preservation of the century-old Montclair Recreational Hall.

THE inaugural fundraising flea market organised by the Montwood Ratepayers’ Association took place at the Montclair Recreational Hall on January 27.
The community showed strong support for this initial event, marking the beginning of a series of flea markets aimed at contributing to the preservation of the century-old Montclair Recreational Hall.
The flea market featured a diverse range of items for sale, including vegetables, samoosas, clothing, homemade goods, fragrances, cakes and beverages. The Montclair SAPS’s social crime-prevention unit had a dedicated table, distributing pamphlets to raise awareness about local crimes and providing information on prevention and reporting.
Heidi Geyser, the association’s treasurer, announced that proceeds from the new weekly markets would be allocated for the maintenance and refurbishment of the Montclair Recreational Hall. Additionally, funds would support the environment team’s efforts in maintaining grassy areas and verges in Montclair.
Geyser is actively encouraging businesses to contribute and donate items for the upcoming flea markets where raffles will be held. She is urging the community to keep up the enthusiasm and come through whenever possible to support the various businesses and help raise the funds they need to make Montclair what it once was.
The next market is set to take place on February 3. If you would like to find out more information or donate or book a stall for the next market, please contact Heidi Geyser on 072 317 4660.
